I was just at the track last night, and talked to a guy with a 85 Grand national...he blew my mind with what he ran...he ran a 11.56 and then a 10.88, and i was talking to him after the 10.88....after the 10.88 he ran an alchohol injection...have you ever heard of this? it was just denaturalized alchohol he got at home depot for 8 bux a gallon...And the differnet was amazing...anyone using this? should i do it? is it worth it? looks like fun to me!!!

You inject methanol, denaturized alcohol, isopropanol, ethanol, and sometimes mix it with water. Cools the intake charge A LOT and basically provides extra octane so you can run more timing/boost on pump gas. Ran a buddies non-intercooled blown mustang with the same tune on 92 + alkycontrol.com progressive kit spraying 100% meth as it did on 112 octane.
Also, the alcohol does not add power by itself, infact just spraying meth and changing nothing most people lose a bit of power. The added power comes from running more boost and timing on pump gas.

I have the alchohol injection kit you mentioned in my MR2.
It works great to a point. It is more of a band aid than a real fix. If your car is in a real good state of tune (either Hondata or Stand Alone) then you don't need it. Even with AFC and stock ECU on an NA you don't really need it. It works only on a turbo setup and using it on an NA car is a big "No No".
The Buick guys need it because the heads on stock GN's don't flow really well. They don't have much of a computer to control the timing and fuel so this Alcohol is a good cheap insurance policy. Also, pushing a stock GN motor into the 10's is not very wise. They do not have the efficient motor us Honda or Import guys have. If you have your setup tuned well on a dyno and street you won't have any issues running fast on pump gas. Timing control is everything to reliability.

I've ran alcohol injection on a naturally aspirated car. Ran a 13.5:1 compression 302 chevy on 92 octane spraying meth that activated at 75% or greater throttle, and it progressively injected more meth as the revs went up. Worked great, and he didn't have to pay 5+ bucks a gallon for gas.
In my opinion, I don't see meth injection as a band-aid, but just another tool to make power like a turbo, blower, or nitrous. The buick guys can make just as much power on C16, if not more, than they do on meth injection, but they use meth for the convenience of filling up on pump gas and still making oodles of power.
