AEM problems help please need expert advise needed
I was also having this same problem using your same setup except I am using an M&W box. I know AEM was looking into the problem but my motor has been down for a few months so I have not had a chance to test anything or get back in touch with them. I will post more info once we figure out what is going on.
check the valve train.
we had a similar problem but it was around 9000 rpms, the valves were floating.. i helped out a race car in NY a couple years ago, the motor ate a throttle body screw and wouldnt rev up.

have you checked the leak down having the same problem looks to be valve float took the intake seats out . tune was fine then started getting misfires chased it for a few days and found the bad seats. i hope that was the problem

Are u using a plug and play ems or a universal. Im wondering if its the plug and play box that has the problem since it has to be modified by aem to be able to run the epm?

I am using the same box as you. I have a brand new wiring harness. The problem is not valve float or anything to do with the valves. I can say this with confidence because I replaced the aem coils with other coils and the problem went away.

the aem coils from what i can tell are identicle to the cbr coils, but you can use a normal spark plug with them.
make sure the coils are staying down, we had to build a bracket for ours, they kept poping up.
what boost are you running, what gas, how much timing?

If you go to the 'software' section of AEM's forum, they have a new "Wizzard" file to download which has two new CDI options in the Coil Dwell Wizzard. If you haven't tried it, it's easy to install, maybe worth a shot.
We just rectified the same issue on a 502 Big Block.

its hard to diag a breakup over the interweb.. lol
our race car acts like that when it dosnt have enough timing, something about our setup makes it wan 30 deg of timing almost ALL the time. any less and it wont run, any more and it wont run

The AEM components should not be the system to blame so prematurely. A mechanical engine adjustment was made and the problems arose. It is so easy to point a finger at electronics, as I see it all the time.
A scientific, logical problem solving approach should continue to eliminate the issue. I am confident that the solution will be quite simple in the end.
I have had nothing but amazing success with the EMS and the aforementioned components, on my cars, N/A and boosted customer setups.

While in gear and tires spining i can get it to free rev up over 8000rpm, but it still hesitates a lot and does not rev up smoothly.
Doing the same thing with the vss disconnect it will not rev past the orginal 6000rpm problem im having. I double and tripled check to make sure the 2step and rev limiters are off
Also if I have the vss connect but the vtec is disconect with the tires spining it will not rev past 6000rpm
I went through each pin indvidually to check for loose connections as well and wired more power cables to the twin fire and fuel pump just in case but still haveing same problem
Anyone got any idea? I know its almost impossible to diagnose over the internet but any input would be appriciated</TD></TR></TABLE>
are you adding fuel at vtec crossover?

The only problem I can see in your cal is the VTEC on and off points. Try setting the VSS on at 0 and off at 0 and see what happens. When the car is sitting in place on a free rev you aren't activating VTEC however the fueling is still there for VTEC. This will enable VTEC on a free rev see what happens than. Ill send you a new cal to upload to see if it will work.
Also what cams are you using in the car?
Also do you have a resistor box or peak and hold box in the car?
Did you mess with the fuel map after the tuner tuned the car?
