I'm running a twin fire with (4) of their pencil coils and it has been great.

I have tons of dyno, track and street miles on my car with ZERO issues.

A great ignition, and when you factor in the price, I don't see how it can be beat.

That said, I can't really answer you question, but just wanted to let you know that there ignition stuff is solid now.

How old is your box? Seems like everyone is always hit or miss with the Twin-Fire's.

I got it in 09.

I'm pretty sure there was a known problem with the early generation Twin Fires. I don't think that's a secret. The new ones seem to be solid.

Yeah the old units from years back were not good and had malfunctions. Although AEM was always good about taking care of their customers but the new units (which i have as well) is great and they dont have the issues the old ones have. Again its AEM, they always take care of their issues for the most part.

Price cant be beat. I got mine for $200 shipped with all the harness and everything. You can get the installation instructions from online on aem's site.

MW all the way, tony at T1 to get hooked up. He can also provide you with the Honda factory CBR coils that seem to work well for me.

^^^ he is correct. on my 1040, I just had to move the jumpers, no modifying. Earlier boxes you had to modify.

i modded my 1010 my self just use an external resistor swap a jumper cut a resistor in the box. but for the coils why not just use smart coils and no aftermarket ignition?

I have been using the twin fires for over 4 years and none ofg them stand up as well as the M&W boxes if you can swing the cash I would recommend using the M&W.They are also correct you will need to have the jumpers switched I had to do it on my 1030 box also.
