Default Accuracy of a G-Force?

Ok I am curious cause my buddy is a mechanic here in town. So his boss lets him borrow this G-Force and he brings it home..

We did a couple runs with my brothers car (I am currently borrowing)
The car is a 93 Del Sol Si
The motor is a 95 b18c1 bone stock with 220xxx miles on it
The transmission is a 00 Si tranny with grinding second (damn synchros!!)

Well anyhow we played around with this thing and my brothers car. I managed to pull it through the second gear grinds and lay down some pretty good runs.

1st run: 13.73 @ 112
2nd run: 14.10 @ 110 (kinda missed second)
3rd run: 14.17 @ 107
(started smelling clutch after 2nd run, )
The thing also gives G-Force readout and the cars best pull was .37 G's

Now all that I am asking is how accurate is this thing? This is the first time I have played with one of these things. I was surprised at the outcome of these runs, considering the amount of miles on this old motor.

judging by those times id have to say not very accdurate. A bone stock GSR in a del sol will probably run a high 14 low 15.

Those trap speeds are really high. I run 13.5's @ 102. Not very accurate if you ask me.

were you on level ground?

those type of things usualy are pretty accurate if its level, and you do a few runs and take the average... but those numbers do seem a bit off.

My brother and i were fooling around with the G-Tech Pro one day. He had a 95 DX coupe with an intake. I had a 91 DX hatch with a d16z6, i/h/e.

We did the horsepower test. It showed me coming up as 91hp, and him coming up as 112hp.

yeah, I'd say its a piece of ****.

im guessing it uses the 0-60 math combined with your weight, which you have to enter, and uses some formula to calculate horsepower.

its a piece of ****.

My bad, a G-TEC!!! lol

But ya I would figure its a bit off... I know the car is capable of mid to low 14's. But I didnt think it would break 14's!!

I am pretty sure it was level ground, the thing would let us use it till it was level. It would flash "tilt" until we had it level.

very accurate if set up properly. does not account for wheel slip very well though. did you weight the car with the driver and passenger in it or did you just guess. if you dont set it up appropriatly it will give erronious info. It uses the same technology as airplane gyroscope systems do. The mercury is just to tell you if the box is level .

I weighted the car with my best guess, so I am sure its off a lil bit...

not sure why a del sol with a b18c1 would run mid to low 14s. Not much more hp or tq than just a regular vtec del sol

We used it last week on my friends WRX and it was dead on. If you input the correct weight and drive on level ground it will give you decent numbers. We also dynoed and timed the car at the track to confirm the numbers.

Well I dont know what you think, but a stock DOHC VTEC del sol with a b16 should run low 15's/high 14's. This is a GSR motor pulling noticably harder than the b16 and its also matted to a 00 Si tranny (gearing is short)

I think mid to low 14's is not out of the question...
