Default A1000 Pump Users

Ok here we go so i did my fuel setup for 09 heres how its ran.

Sumped tank -8 coming out of the tank but i think i can put up to a -10
-8 earls 35 micron filter before pump
-6 coming out of the pump with aeromotives speacial fitting to make it down to a -6
-6 earls 85 micron filter going to rail
-6 into BDL fuel rail Aeromotive reg on end of rail
-6 return line to top of tank

Ps this was on a little over hafe a tank.

But heres the deal you can turn the pump on start the car and drive for 5mins and it will start getting louder. I know when you come to a stop the gas will move to the front making noise but this gets loud i though maybe the gas was just moveing so i let it sit and run but it still sounds loud and like its hurting the pump lol. The sump and the return hat where made by my dad.Now i want your guys input on this before i tell the rest of the story.

Heres a pic of the reg on the rail if it matters.

If you want to create a fire hazard, leave that regulator mounted to the end of the rail like that. I assume you have an aluminum fitting connecting it to the rail?

The 85 micron should be before the pump and the 35 micron after the pump. Besides that, the issues you're seeing with fuel sloshing away from the pump are normal with a fuel sump. Some are worse than others, depending on how they're made and installed.

From what I've heard from the aeromotive guys, the really fine "paper" filter, can't remember 10 or 100 micron filter will become too restrictive and start to starve the pump if you put that filter before the pump.

Do you have any pictures on how you mounted the A1000? Maybe it's too high up and isn't getting a good fuel feed?

I've seen cars come into the shop with the same problem you experienced but I think one guy just grabbed an adapter off the 17mm drain bolt on the tank and tried to "sump" it there.

probably way out in left field, but what fuel are you running? we had similar problems with e85 and it turned out the fuel filter was getting all eaten up by the ethanol, but im assuming you already checked the filter.

I use a magnafuel coupler fitting to do the same thing as pictured above? Are you saying I should expect to have problems (so far so good for the 2nd half of last year I had mine like this buttt...)? I see people using these all the time to do this or even to link a filter to a pump with only the pump supported and dont have any issues?

Sorry not meaning to slightly detour OT... but since its probably relivant to the OP as well hope no one minds.

once we made the switch to e85, the car ran perfect for about 5 minutes then the cellulose filtes were getting clogged. use a metal mesh screen type filter with taht fuel. this is exactly what happened to us. the filter even still looked new.

how important is it to have a pre-pump filter? i'm only using a post-pump filter (100 micron) on my A1000. I pour fuel into my tank through a very fine mesh screen to attempt to eliminate dirt getting in there if that matters.

its in a sandrail so its routed totally different, but basically its a fabricated tank with a built in sump, then the a1000, then the metal filter from aeromotive, then to the fuel rail, etc, etc, -10 feed, -8 return.

the car would run perfect for about 5-10 minutes, then start to sputter and the fuel pump would sound like it was about ready to let go. we immediately figured there was some sort of block in the fuel line which lead us to check the fuel filter which looked still new. put it all back together and problem was still there, ended up changing out the filter and the problem came back in 5-10 minutes. then we did a little research and were advised to use the metal meshscreen filter and have never had any problems.
