2005 NDRA SCHEDULE UPDATE
It is about fans, not racers. Fans make money for the events and the tracks. They hope to get enough racers to cover the costs of the people it takes to run the track. They will make some money off of the racers once they get enough, but overall, it is the fans that make the money for the organizations.
Well ****!!!! Kinda blows the budget for travel. I thought the ennis event turnout was good. Could have been a few more spectators, but the racer turnout was awsome. I think the Houston event and weather played a role in the Ennis turnout. Just too close together, not to mention expensive, to do both.

I understand that. But then again, without racers, what are the fans going to watch?. Ennis had a ton or racers. 16 car field for T4 and all motor and most other field had a minimum 8 cars. It seemed like they were running nearly every hour from 10am to 6pm. Was hard to leave the stands because of the racing going on. A lot of people choose not to come due to the last NHRA event the was there. It was poor at best and left a bad taste in everyones mouth. Promotion for the NDRA Ennis event was POOR at best to but racer turnout was excellent. Need a way to get flyers to some shops to pass out. Like the way Import Face Off does.

Suprised there are no TX events this year. I will be at the following though
June 4 & 5 West Palm Beach, FL Moroso Motorsports Park
October 8 & 9 (tentative) Bradenton, FL Bradenton Motorsports Park
I hope they get the October 8 & 9 dates worked out.

I like this schedule, and the season closer 45 minutes from home. We know how to do it up at Norwalk, just ask the police there.
You're going to need to advertise the hell out of it to get a kick *** attendance though.

Damn this sucks.
I was hoping to have the car ready for next year. Looks like I'm going to have to take a road trip just to race next year. Any of you Texas guys down for a road trip to a race next year?

Let's look at why NHRA/NOPI Backed Out:
1. NHRA Ennis--> NHRA states that the turnout at Ennis this year was horrible. Do I disagree? No, but you also have to understand that NHRA had some pretty bad planning. The weekend that they held the Ennis event was the same weekend that Hot Import Nights was here. After realizing that someone screwed up big time, they tried to work a deal where if you went to Hot Import Nights on Saturday, then you would get a free ticket to the NHRA Event on Sunday. Now I, as well as some others, found this as a good deal, and went to the NHRA Event on Saturday. Left the track and went to HIN around 8:30PM. We get there, pay for our ticket in, and the people at the booth tell us that they are giving away the tickets inside. We get inside the event, and nothing! I find someone who was heading up the event, and they said that they did have tickets, but only a limited supply and that you had to be here at 5:00 when the gates opened to get them. No where in their advertisments did they tell us what time we had to be there or that there would be limited qtys available. It just said that if you paid to get into HIN then you would get a NHRA ticket for Sunday.
That right there had an effect on people...man, paying $20 to get into NHRA on Saturday, $25 for HIN, and then having to pay another $20 to get in on Sunday was a little much when you got done with gas and everything. That right there killed it for most people. Not wanting to spend the extra money on Sunday for NHRA because they got screwed on Saturday night at the HIN Event.
2. NOPI Baytown--> This is easy. Weather. Houston is one of those towns where it's sunny one minute, and raining the next. Luckily at the event it only drizzled once, but the way the skys look, and from what the weather channel was predicting was enough to deter fans/racers from coming, and we can understand NOPI backing out.
3. NOPI Ennis--> I'm lost for words. How many records were broken that weekend? Racer turnout was phenomenal. Fan turnout was decent. With a little more advertising or word of mouth I believe the Ennis event next year could be huge! And I think DiRep972 said it best with how we have these Pro-Racers that have helped the sport a great deal, as well as all of the upcoming T4/Power Street Competitors, that pulling the event from Ennis is a mistake.
I'd like to see Nopi Reverse their decision and reinstate Ennis, TX back for the 2005 Season. I can think of at least 10+ people that are here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area alone that are already building their cars for the T4/Power Street Class next year, and by pulling Ennis out of the picture, might deter them from competing. I say let's fill the staging lanes so we can fill the seats. No racers=no fans.....

Yep. Am I the only one that thinks this looks more like a demolition derby/dirt track/tractor pull schedule than it does an import drag schedule?

I hate to break it to everyone, but our team has been racing here in Dallas for over 6 years, and the crowds just get worse every time. Everyone is correct to say that NOPI had a good turnout at this last event, but that is the view of everyone local who never sees large crowds. I know of most you guys who are commenting on this, and I hate to say until you got to Atco, Englishtown or Moroso, you will never know what a good crowd is.
I must say that we personally are not pleased with this decision, seeing how our family and friends will not be able to come out and see us race. But we do understand that this is a business decision, and a smart one at that! The one thing I dont understand though, is places like Ohio and Alabama going to be any better venues than Texas? Is the market that bad here, that they have to resort to these other locations that people aren't even familiar with unless they live across the street? I dont see this as improvement, but just a lateral move for less cost out of their pocket!

Anybody down for helping me set up a Texas shoot out? Something like how WIC did it with big pay outs? I know the track manager at Ennis but we could also hold it in San Antonio where the track would be cheaper.

Totally agree on the cost effectiveness on NOPI's part. Im surprised that they are coming past the MISSISSIPPI River in '05. Their first year they didn't even mess with the west coast.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
side note: are all the folks that are planning on running the NOPI schedule coming to Phoenix, AZ? Because the Cali heavy hitters will be there for Pomona part 2!! Since this all we will have from NOPI...I might as well make the 6 hour trek to 'Zona.
