14 sec ls
well i tried some searches and came up empty so here goes:
im looking to get my teg into 14sec range. i dont drag or anything just want a more lively ride, and be among the faster cars on the road (not the fastest). id like to not get thrashed by my friends 95 m3.
so how do i get into mid-high 14 second range, and which is cheaper
i can get a turbo (2400 for greddy) run 7psi, get some tuning and ill be running 13's for 2500.
or is na a better option?
dont want nitrous, want something thats always present
any ideas?
can i get into 14's with na for less than 2500?
thanks

cams, intake, header, exhaust, afc, GSR trans, will give you low 14's. Your still going to lose to your boys M3 though, cause that should run hi 13's stock.

well its the 95 m3, the 240hp version, and yes i do know ill loose i just dont want to get whopped
right now im bascly stock runnin high 15-low 16s. hes got almost 2 seconds on me.
so just some good cams, complete i/h/e, and tuning will get me into the 14s?
ive heard of crower cams and the valve springs kit.
how much would those run me? 1k?

well the upgraded valves, springs, retainers are really just good for reving alot higher. so ifyou would want to get a chipped ECU and maybe rev it to 8k teh sprins valves and retainers would help alot, but if all you want is high 14's you can do that with intake header exhaust

your ls should run a mid 15 stock with a decent driver, i/h/e on a GSR is high 14's with the LS its low 15's. You should be able to pull a 15.5 with a stock LS, your 60ft should be 2.1 or 2.2.

you want flat 14s? like 14.0? or 14.9? i'd say the easiest is boost.. and u can up it later, which i know you will. Because once you run 14s, your gonna wanna run 13s, and when u run 13s... guess what?

good then its not just me who thinks a stock ls in mid 15's is kinda fishy, i thought stock gs-r's ran mid 15s
i want to run mid to high 14s, like a stock itr speed.
yeah so far im still leaning towards boost. damn that drag kit looks so nice, if only i had the money

stock=low 16's
i/h/e= very high fifteens
With i/e, all season tires, a shitty clutch, and a 2.3 60 ft., I got a 15.9 @ 84 mph.
I guess with a better clutch and a 2.1 or 2.2 I could see 15.7 or 15.6. In order to get into the 14's you definitely need to upgrade the valvetrain as mentioned earlier--among other things.

ask around, people will tell you LS's can run mid 15s stock. 15.5 or 15.6 it happens alot, it just takes a good driver. Run your car at the track and make sure your 60ft is a 2.2 or better and see what you get.

EDIT: 94 and up LS can run mid 15's stock not the 90-93 LS

EDIT: 92-93 RS are the lightest ones and are best ones to get in the 14's N/A IMO

Yeah, for mid 15's you need
1. You need a STRONG engine
2. Good driver
3. Great launch
Ummm, i ran 15.4 full interior with only intake and exhaust with my 92 RS. My mph is always between 88 and 90 mph. I just can't understand when i see LS drivers running low 16's. My friend has a BONE STOCK 1996 Integra RS and he ran 15.6-15.7 all day long. You need to launch properly, if you're not, you'll end up with shitty times like 16's

The weakness of the LS is the top end. I know that when I got 3/4 of the way down the track, she seemed to just run outta steam.

Damn, now you guys are making me feel bad
but I'll have to wait for a new clutch before trying to cut my times down some more. Because my clutch is slipping I can't break 2.4 on my 60 ft. (I've tried every rpm).

If i were you i would get the basic bolt ons (i/h/e) cams, cam gears, intake manifold, - this shuold get u mid 14's...THAN build up that motor a little bit and boost it...OR if u would like to go NA...pick up a GSR or SI head with the oil lines and stuff you need and make yourself a nice little ls/vtec.....i bet with practice, gutted interior, good driver, and the mods listed above...you'll be in 13's....
Also for under 2500...shop around for deals and stuff...the mods i listed -
i/h/e,cam,cam gears - 1500
Intake mainfold - 500????
You can find a SI head for 300 if u shop around...
that all adds to 2300

hahah this thread is funny. LS running mid 15's stock thats a good one.
Damn I wonder what my 89 civic DX with a LS will run in the 1/4.
I have intake and 2.5" custom exhaust and a univ. mufller
gutted inteior what should it run
ohhhhh yeah stock clutch and I will be runnin on 14" slicks.

I totally agree... my friend's LS runs 16.5 all day long with header and exhaust. And that is with a good driver.
I don't understand why people get so butt-hurt by cars getting better than norm track times. If someones car is only 2 tenths of a second slower than yours, instead of the 5 that you originally thought... is something terrible going to happen?
I am surprised no one on this thread mention a highflow cat.
If you are going to upgrade i/h/e, tune with an afc, cams camgears, etc.. you really should remove all the bottlenecks from your exhaust first.
It really shouldn't be i/h/e, it should be i/h/c/e.
