Default Scratch/Gash removal

I've been detailing and cleaning my own cars for a while but I have never had any real experience removing a good sized scratch/gash from a car, I guess I've been lucky.

My wife's new Rogue has a good sized scratch on the door(can get pic later tonight). I am looking for the best way, kit, etc to removing it.

Any good suggestions?

Thanks!

first things first, "rub" it. If you can catch a thumbnail on it the scratch is generally thru the clear coat and there isn't much you can do.

Yeah, repaint is the only way. To do it right anyways...

I have seen a few videos on how to repair it with touch up paint... but I'm totally against it! It never turns out how you want it to and it's very noticeable. It would honestly bother me way too much!

If there are any smaller scratches around the worst of it. You could use meguiars ultimate compound, or something similar to make the area less noticeable and not draw so much attention in the meantime.

Definitely a vote down on the touch up paint.

M105 and M205 will do wonders to make it less noticeable around the area.

Body shop did a rather large scratch on my door. (without me asking) it looks like hell.

It's just 1 large scratch and that's it. Looks almost like a door ding/scrape.

Not sure what to do, may just go take it to a body guy and see what they say.

Once the pic is up, i have a few friends who do body work and paint. I can run it by them.

ya that looks to be on the bare metal...

Using the m105 and m205 in that area will make a little less noticeable but to fix it to be gone you will need to get that repainted.
