Removing painted pin stripe
Hey guys, have some questions for ya. I just purchased a 1987 AE86 with original paint. It has a painted pin strip that needs to be removed. I've read some about oven cleaner, as well as cutting it with a dremmel with a felt tip and some polish. My question is what do some of you suggest. This paint is 25 years old, so it may not be as durable as some more modern and newer paints.
THanks for your input.

Re: Removing painted pin stripe
Depends on whether they cleared over it or not (and also the underlying paint type).
I'm not even sure if the ae86 was using urethane or enamel. If it is enamel, the pinstripe and the underlying paint will be close to the same material so removal will be very difficult. If it is urethane, lacquer thinner or similar will be fine to remove the pin.
Be careful with the dremel. Those things will burn through paint ridiculously easy due to their sheer speed.
