Default rack and pinion problems

I recently purchased a 1987 crx si, everything was good until today when i was backing out of the driveway, i heard a loud clunk from the front passenger side, I put the car in 1st to pull over to the side and the front ride side makes a horrible noise, after a couple mins of play, i realize that the right tire barely moves (and grinds) when the wheel is turned all the way to the left or all the way to the right.

The tire isn't rubbing, but i think it might be my rack and pinion, what do you think? When the steering wheel is straight, the wheels roll somewhat, but when I turn the steering wheel either to the left or right, thats when the wheel locks up and makes a nasty grinding noise =[

Have you checked the balljoint and tie rod end? Is the strut still attached securely top and bottom?

sounds like your lower balljoint broke, which is common.
