Engine swapping
I have an 86 Accord which had the engine replaced by a previous owner. The stamp on the block only shows "BS" and 1006535". I thought the engine ID was a letter and a number, like B20A. I plan on purchasing an 88 Accord just for the body and am wondering if I would be able to put the 86 engine into the 88 body. The valve cover says "12 valve" and the engine is carburated.
Any insights would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Engine swapping (Kaliona)
The 86 engine will bolt right into the 88. Easiest way to do it is to leave the manifolds and everything. Basically just swap the blocks. The mounts and manifolds should be compatible... The BS is pretty much identical to the A20 engine, just a different code revision that Honda went through from 86 to 87. I don't think there are, but there may be minor differences in wiring and vacuum connectors between the engines, so you'd wanna leave the carb in the car it came out of assuming that stuff all works and the engine itself is the problem.
