Wire Guage for kill switches??
so i am planning on making a couple of kill switches in my car and was wondering what gauge wire should i use? i head some ppl say 16 and some 18 or does it make the least of difference..thanks
18 for the most case, what will you be killing?
http://www.rbeelectronics.com/wtable.htm will be beneficial. Also, I know it was three hundred and ten minutes and no one gave a reply, but this is not a quick-moving subforum.
Edit 8 hours later: Also keep in mind a majority of stock Honda wires are 18 gauge. But, if you're extending them significantly, 16 may come in handy (or a relay, that would be better).
vvvvvvvvv Also by now do people know of the main relay kill on Hondas? It seems very common in my mind, and surely the mind of anyone trying to start their broken car, but do "thieves" think of it yet? I'm also having theories on how to defeat an alarm that kills the main relay, but it's quite messy and is for another thread.

It all matters on what you are killing. main relay will be the best kill switch to do in a honda. I will be doing a write up soon on how to do it. Its not that hard and will drive a theif crazy on why the car will not start when he tryied everything to hotwire it.
Main relay, [PGM-FI Main Relay] will "kill" the fuel pump, along with the injectors and some other things, it is a low current ground unlike the high current 12V+ of a fuel pump kill, the PGM-FI Main Relay kill is much easier and nowhere near as easy to bypass as the fuel pump kill is. 94

The fuel pump relay and injector relay are both inside the PGM-FI Main Relay.
The switch is installed on the ground to the injector relays coil, [the injector relay supplies power to the fuel pump relay], if injector relay ground, [black] is cut, there will be no power for the injectors, fuel pump, one of the powers for the ECU and no power to a few engine sensors.
I am in process rebuilding my 94LS and will be relocating my PGM-FI Main Relay, [actually replacing it and leaving the stock one in place as a "dummy"],
The injector relay coil ground is low current, [250mA max] so a small, easily hidden, switch can be used.
Remember stealth is what makes any "kill" switch a good security layer.94

wow thats good info fcm thanks for all your help but just one more question, Is there only 1 ground wire from the main relay? because ive heard there are 2 you have to cut
