will this be okay for speakers ?
Well i have a 96 hatch and Ive never been too into audio or anything cause ive always figured the money id be spending on it could be better spent on another part of my car.. but ive come to the realization that i love music and im in my car everyday so why not make it enjoyable.. i was satisfied by the factory paper speakers for a while, and they bump so i thought they would suffice haha.. well now i know its time to upgrade.. and basically what im looking to get out of it is a nice clear sound with deeeep bass not like BOOM BOOM RATTLE kinda **** but i like to hear the bass in the song im listening to.
so far what i know is my front are 6.5 and rears are 6x9s
at the moment i have some sony 4.5s that were free for me so i thought what the hell and put them in for the time being and they sound pretty good i think they were like 160w peak 30-40 rms or something like that not sure.. some walmart sony xplods.
im not looking to spend a fortune so i saw this package at walmart for two 6.5s two 6x9s and a head unit with an aux which seems pretty perfect to me, all for $88 now i know the quality isnt going to be top-notch but it does seem like exactly what im looking for.. so would that be a good idea to get them? heres a link http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...ct_id=12531485
another thing is i have a surround sound subwoofer (LOL) 100w @ 8ohm
and i feel as if that will get me that nice bass im looking for without the unnecessary boomage. to keep it cheap i was going to buy a used amp around 250w to make it work..
so does that sound like it will be a nice upgrade from factory and put me closer towards that clear sound deep bass that im going for?

If the OEM, [factory] speakers are damaged then yes, it will obviously be an improvement, and worth it, but then anything is better then a blown speaker.
If the OEM speakers are not damaged, replace the OEM HU first, the source, [HU] is your most important piece of your audio system, spend the money to get a good one, it does not have to be the very best out there but stay away from Sony, just about anything out there is better.
With the stock system the limiting factor for better SQ is the stock HU and if the stock speakers are not damaged, replacing the stock HU with an aftermarket HU will improve SQ a lot.
After replacing the HU the next thing to improve SQ is to replace the front speakers, then more power, the rear speakers do not need to be replaced unless there is something wrong with them, they are not needed at all except as rear fill and should be the very last thing replaced, if at all. 94

I would suggest looking on eBay. I found my Pioneers brand new for EXTREMELY cheap on eBay, they were one level below their premier line. In all I saved almost $100 for the fronts and rear.
With speakers, if you are not amping them, the FIRST thing you need to be doing is matching the decks RMS output to the RMS of the speakers. If you bought a $500 set of speakers rated for 300 watts rms and only gave them 25 it would more than likely sound worse than factory speakers or about the same.

So? that's 3-6 times stock power, and if the stock speakers are still OK, they will sound great with good bass response from the rear 6x9s and properly installed 2 ohm speakers in the front with the stock 6x9s in the rear would sound even better.
I have yet to have a customer that was not surprised at the improvement in SQ including bass response and SPL gain when all they did was replace the stock HU with a properly installed and wired "high power" aftermarket HU.
BTW, I bet you a dollar my "Hu" gets me 4x20W RMS minimum into 4 ohms, I bet you another dollar that you would be one of many others who would accuse me of having a hidden amp in my car, [94 Integra hatch] someplace, and like them you would be wrong.
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against off-board amps, will be putting one in my Teg when it's back on the road, but good SQ and decent bass can be had with just a HU. 94

my friend Arthur has a mid level alpine deck running stock 6x9's and stock 6.5" components in his 97 ex coupe (i know coupe vs. hatch), i was playing around with it, and got it sounding (even at high volume) to sound GOOD. the stock honda 6x9's sound pretty good imo, sounded like he had maybe an 8" sub in it. he heard me inside and wanted to know who was bumpin it down the street. lol
so yeah i'd start with a good h/u, alpine, kenwood, and pioneer are popular.
