Why do ppl do that ??
Last night, my teg was broken into and some dumbass stole my radio, CD's and radar detector..WTF!!! So, if anyone has any suggestions for a good car alarm to get.... I could sure them!
Thanks
Thanks
I am sorry that happened to you. I had 5 stereos stollen and that is the main reason why I do no care to spend any money on sound anymore. Even if you go out and buy the most expensive alarm they could still hit you. Even if the next time you get a stereo installed you make sure that the stereo in installed solid in the panel of the car, the thieves might break your panel to get to it fast. Just make sure you do not park it in a bad area again or if this is your college spot, I would suggest you move to a better area. After being hit many times I decided not to attract people to my car any more.
Good luck

Thats the thing, it wasnt a "system" or anything and the only ppl that live in my neighborhood are mostly older. The way that it happened kind of makes me think that it might be someone that knows what I had. Thanks for the advice.
Look on the bright side - at least they didn't take the wheels, interior, or the whole car!...
This question (which alarm to get) is asked over and over; try the Search function on this board, it is extremely useful!

And it not so much the alarm, its the install. In addition to that you need hood lock, maybe disconnect the power locks, because they can get in with the quikness by pulling back the door and pulling up the power lock switch in seconds!!!The hood lock is key because once they get in they pull the power to your siren and no more noise from your alarm, also they can bypass starter kills from under the hood.I have pictures and have seen the video of exactly how they stole my ride. And i had an alarm and starter kill so I atleast learned exactly how they did it and i know how fast they can get it.So even thow they took the radio, good thing you still have the car,and the best thing you can do from here is do some reserch on past threads, because there is alot of things you can and should do to secure the car.And i agree with the other guy,I won't even hook a system up in my car because I know the chances of keeping it are slim to none, espeacially living in a area.

My setup will probably be overkill, but I'll sleep better at night. In many cases, an alarm's flashing LED is enough to get the crook to move on, and if the siren goes off they'll run away. I happen to have a friend who knows people who have done that kind of stuff, and they definately aren't very sophisticated (or smart) about it. A professional car thief could probably get passed most alarms, but I don't think there's many of them around here.

Thiefs will get your car no matter what you put in it,your average scum who robs to joyride can't tie his shoes without help so you may prevent him,but the fact of the matter is GSR's are stolen constantly for the Engine, leather, and rims so your usually dealing with professional. My GSR had all kinds of sensors alarms overkill and they still got it in about 2 minutes flat.A good thief will laugh at alarm.Theres people who will car jack,as well as flat bed your .So you can never have enough, and just an alarm will do nothing in my opionion, and I speak from 1st hand experience, and i also have friends who lost there GSR's as well!!
GSRGrl, for your next alarm, get a well known brand......high quality and all that. But I heavily recommend looking into getting a system that you can add, or comes with, a pager and sending unit. Look for one with an internal (glass mount) antenna. (Real good theifs will know to lower your stock antenna and reduce the pagers sending unit's range to zero). Anyway, this will then page you when your alarm goes off. I have an Alpine unit which will page me with green LED's upon a bump, and then with red LEDs upon the system going off fully. No matter how good, or fast a theif is, you'll still get that moments notification and can haul *** to your car.
By the way. Beware some of the cheaper models and I stress the internal antenna. Look at the range that the company claims and try to research its validity. Long range for the pager/sending unit is of utmost importance.

Well, sorry to hear about that. I kinda figured since I stay in the ghetto, I bought myself an alarm. But also, you seem to think that somebody who knows you might have done it?? Well, if you get an alarm, I think any "well-known" brand alarm will do, but I recommend getting a back up battery.
when u buy a deck they usually come a small piece of metal that attaches to the back to keep it up. i recommend that u BOLT that piece of metal to the chasis behind the radio. most radios dont need the metal prop to hold the radio up. if it doesnt come with the radio, then get one from home depot. or u can always replace your windows with kevlar. unbreakable, but expensive.
If you can afford it, I would get a good alarm with shock sensors, glass sensor and a microwave motion detector...ah, and two or three high decibel sirens so if some punk get close to your ride it'll scare the hell out of them and call the attention.
PS: That's what I got in my ITR and works fine!
