Some people will tell you to get the best head unit and work from there, others will tell you to get the best speakers and work from there.

I say get the best head unit first, and some low price bargain speakers with a poly cone and rubber surrounds. Power the speakers off the head unit and place them in the stock positions.

Eventually when you do upgrade to better speakers then you can also spend the time to place them properly. Add amps and subs as your budget allows.

How much are looking to put into it?
Definantly start w/ the head unit. Everything you're eventually getting will be controlled by it. Plus it's what other people have to look at when they're riding with you.

Make sure you get something with a EQ controller built in if you're gonna get subs. This will save you alot.

Oh yeah, and if you're powering your speakers through your HU, make sure it has enough Watt output to power the speakers. If your HU puts out less power than your speakers use, you'll blow you speakers.
