where does the head unit go?
glove?

I love the full screen, I'm debating on picking it up on reasons of practicality. If I can access it with an arms reach that will be cool, but it looks like a cd changer in the back or something. can someone please explain to me how this set up works?

i havent looked at the alpine site.. but im guessing that little brown box a little left of the screen is the sensor for a remote control... perhaps a touch screen? i know alpine has dvd or mp3 changers available so im guessing thats what its using. can alwayz put a changer under a seat or something

I think you might be reffering to the turbo timer, no its a turbo timer not a remote control sensor. And thats a pic of a WRX...

Naw, look at the top left corner of the screen, small rectangle, it is an infared eye. Also there may not be a head unit, he could be using a dvd player and a 5.1 decoder.

my god....i think you may actually be correct. one of my friends has an entire pioneer setup (cd changer, dvd changer, brain and screens) and thats how his is setup works. The brain acts like a home theater receiver accepting the audio and video inputs and then processes them and outputs them to the appropriate component. i could be wrong about that alpine system though.

wrong thread post....sorry!
that screen image is from an alpine DVD player, not from the screen itself, it could be a cheapie screen with an alpine dvd player and get that picture.... meaning that could posibbly be an actual alpine screen but more than liekly not
that's known as a "MATTJK" Screen for subarus. its a screen attached to the stock bezel. the headunit is either mounted in the glovebox, or in the optional gauge pod bezel that goes in place of the clock ONTOP of the dash.
