Default whats the difference between component speakers

abd coaxial speakers, im not talking the whole component set, just the mid range speaker

im thinking if i use a seperate amp and crossover channel for the front tweeters and the mids i can make my own 'component set' as the main advantage is different crossover settings for the mids and tweeters right?

ive never had a component set but been hearing most audio heads praise them and use them religously in their set ups

only component set i ever heard were some infinitys in the back of my friends starlet, never heard one up front

If you use a 4ch amp and the amp has xovers high enough for the tweeters it will work, and if it has both upper and lower cut [band pass] for the mid , even better.

I have done a few cars useing 2 x2ch amps one for the left ch and one for the right ch , and then splitting the 2 ch of each amp to the mids., and tweets. 94

hummm... if i recall correctly, the Directed amp is 75 watts RMS x 4, and that Rockford Fosgate amp is 125 RMS x 2... you do not need nearly that much power going to your tweeters.
maybe 40 or 50 x 4 would be plenty. either that, or you can buy another 2 channel amp 125 RMS amp, and use the Directed for the tweets.
in this case, your cheapest way out would be passive crossovers. that way, you can just use the Directed.
when most people are talking about component speakers, they are using passive crossovers. not normally a Bi amp system like you are talking about. however, done right, a Bi amp system is the way to go.
dave ( with 2 Tri amp component systems plus subs )
