What the heck?? Why is the yellow wire split??
OK so I was taking out a CD deck (Pioneer DEH-3800MP) in my 95 Accord until I got to the harness part...
The previous owner got the cd deck installed by Circuit City. Btw, there is also a CD-6 disc changer Pioneer model in my trunk as well... so I dont know if thats part of it. So I got my crimp, cut the wires (so that I can solder them to my own CD deck harness), until I came to the yellow wire (battery wires). For some reason, it was split in two's. The battery wire was coming out inside the dash board and was soldered to both the harness and cd deck harness as shown here.
Yellow=Battery wire
Red line=The parts I cut with my crimp/cutter
Black=electrical tape
For safety pre-caution, I taped the end parts w/ electrical tape. So how am I suppose to do this now? Can I just cut the two end wires to make it into one wire non split? Is it safe to solder it? Help!
Remember, there is also a Pioneer 6 disc CD changer in the trunk, so I dont know if that needs battery power as well.

So you're saying a yellow wire was ran independently of the stereo harness and then connected to it and then the stereo?
A pic would help.
I guess the 12v constant was found to be bad, and they couldn't figure out why so they ran a new wire most likely from the ignition harness. They shouldn't have connected it to the factory wiring, just the deck. If it's connected to the factory wiring and doesn't blow the inline fuse they should have installed at the ignition harness, that means the factory wire is repairable. Most likely a blown fuse under the dash.

alright cool. so what do you recommend? just keep the split two wires (one for the Accord harness and the CD deck) and solder them together? I've already solder everything else except the yellow ones.
OK I took a good look again this morning. Now the cars harness actually has a yellow wire on it as well.
Yellow=yellow wire (battery wires)
Red line=parts that I cut
Black box on yellow wires=electrical tape
Green=soldered part
Maybe the extra wire is for the 6 disc CD changer in the back??

You have an Alpine HU now, what was in there before, was it a Pioneer HU with CD changer control, [there would have been another cord plugged into it, "changer cord"] or is the Pioneer changer an FM mod unit? If so, the extra yellow is power for the FM mod changer, and if you want to use it you will have to connect the extra yellow to the yellow in the adapter harness.
