What amp to power infinity kappa components?
I'm looking to get some kappas for my integra and i want to retain the stock CD player. What kind of amp should i get to power them? My whole setup is probably going to consist of just the front components, so i'm not looking for anything powerful or expensive, just something that'll get the job done. I'd also like it pretty small and compact so it can be concealed rather easily.
I've done a bit of searching and found some great suggestions for components but i couldn't find a definite answer for an amp to power them.
Also: what makes one amp better than others? Isn't the primary purpose of an amp to provide more power to speakers so they can be used at a greater volume without getting blown out? sorry, i'm a little new to car aduio, i'd just like to know a bit more about this

Is there some reason you want to keep the OEM head unit? Im sure it would make a big difference in how your setup sounds if you get a new head unit with your new speakers.
Wouldn't it be cheaper to use an amp to power the speakers than using a new HU? Plus i could probably run more power than a head unit. Also, from looking at my friends, it looks like a hassle to keep carrying around the faceplate everywhere you go. I also don't see myself taking advantage of all the extra bells and whistles that a good HU would provide. The OEM CD player would probably be a decent theft deterrent too. It matches the interior better than any of the aftermarket HU's i've seen. Do the kappas require marginal power to run them efficiently? About how much power am i going to want to run to them?
For Kappa components, you want to look for an amplifier putting out 50-75 watts RMS (continuous). There are so many to choose from that it would be impossible to list them.
You said you do not want to spend a forture but want something decent. Let me know what price range is comfortable for you and I can make some recommendations.
Would you be considering adding a subwoofer later? Or powering the rear speakers with an amp?
You can certainly use your stock radio with an aftermarket amplifier. However there much to be had in terms of sound quality from the addition of an aftermarket radio.
Feel free to call me at work to talk about your options.

What is the going rate for a decent amp that puts out 50-75 watts? I was thinking of spending maybe around $100-150? thanks for your help
No problem. Assuming that you only power the fronts from an amplifier you have a few choices which fit into your budget.

The rockford fosgate 150S for $109.95 looks good for the price. But if i wanted to upgrade the speakers in the rear, would it be a good idea to get that 4 ch. fosgate 300x for $189.95 instead? Also, what speakers would you recommend for the rear in a 2 dr. integra? And what do aftermarket HU's have that would increase the SQ that my stock one doesn't? sorry for all the questions
