Default What am I missing for this alarm?

Someone gave me this box thats for an alarm,a led light and a siren.I'm not sure what brand it is(as it doesn't say) but it says AL-514 on it.I'm guessing this box is the main unit because it has a wiring diagram on it,the led plugs into it and it has a place for a wire harness. So what I want to know is"

What am I missing?
Does anyone know the brand?
Where can I get the key chain remote for it?
Why do so many people use viper alarms?

If you got only the box/brain without the wire harness, led, siren, remote/fob or anything else and the model # AL-514 (Which I believe is Omega K9 brand)
Waste of time and money trying to piece it. And as for people having Viper. It's made by a company called DEI. They pretty much corned the market on alarms. Considering they own Viper,Python,Sidewinder,BOA,Clifford,Etc........ http://www.directed.com/

Missing the main harness and remote. Its better for you to purchase a new alarm system.

I talked to the guy that gave me the parts and he found some more parts for me.I know the battery is a backup battery but what is the box for?All it has is a wire running from it like an antenna or something and power wires that are connected to the backup battery.

Anyone know what it is?I thought it might be the receiver for the remote but I thought the other box I have is the receiver?

I can tell you your going to need a new back up battery, And from the look of it I still say you get a new one. I can't even find a diagram for it.

You will have to call lo-jack and see if they will do it. But i willing to bet that they will swap it out and charge you for a newer one. As far as the back up battery, Depending on how long they sat uncharged. They don't like to charge back up to full voltage. Its better to replace.

I called and they said the lojack unit is for the life of the vehicle and cant be re-registered...but what I'm thinking is maybe I can install it in my car and write down the serial number so if it gets stolen I can tell the police I got a lojack unit and give them the serial...then maybe they would use it to find my car even though its not registered to my car. They probably wouldn't but I mean I got the thing so might as well and I don't have $600 to spare for a registered unit.

nope, they just won't acivated it because it does not match the car. I would not do it. Better to do it right. I hate to say told you so if your car gets stolen. Doing things cheap in the end allways bites you back.

Hi I have the same alarm but on my case it is installed and working, which I found out on the hard way, I mean: I did activate it and I could not deactivate it, so what I did was I remove the alarm brain from the car altogether. Please any advice on how to reprogram and manual so I can use it correctly? Thanks
