Default Unknown engine electrical problem..

Was driving the car the other day, and just cut out heard a bit of electrical sparking, etc and just slowly died..

Had a look at everything, gearbox and head earthing are fine, still fueling, etc, distributor is fine and plugs are sparking, when you crank it over theres compression, and car feels like it wants to kick in, however when you crank it over and apply a bit of throttle, the electric might just suddenly cut for a second or if you do it to much, can hear more electrical sparking type of noises and cuts out again..

Not getting any engine management lights when cranking over and as said above, the mechanical side of things seems to be fine, appears to be a electrical problem.

any suggestions?

MM&Y?

Its a 1992, EG 1.6 VTI, only mods are B18C Intake Manifold + Exhaust Manifold, HKS Cat-back, AEM Intake Arm.

Cant see how these would affect it so..

MM&Y of car?
Any mods to the car?
Any added electronics, [stereo, alarm/remote start, gauges, ign. upgrades (MSD), pimp my ride lights (neon)]?

If it looks like you are loosing power then there is a connection problem someplace either on the ground side of circuit or the power side.
If you can hear something, " can hear more electrical sparking type of noises" then that would indicate it is inside the car, not in engine bay.

If it is an older Honda/Acura I would guess the ign. switch, symptoms sound about right and not an uncommon problem on the older Honda/Acura.

This may help... http://www.tegger.com/hondafaq/ignit...tch/index.html

Added the MM&Y, I prob replied while you were writing this! Has a cobra alarm, still seems to demobilise/immobolise, unlock/lock fine, however after cranking it for a while and quick cutting out/ignition going off/back on, the alarm light (red flashing light to show immobilised, car wont start, etc) starts flickering and coming on, but dosent seem to affect the car, so I cant see that being a problem with the alarm, but possibly is?

Il check the links and update, cheers mate
