im torn between the JVC LX-100 and the Alpine 7861. they are both similarly priced. The JVC has the auto cruise, which increase the volume as the RPM goes up, which will help cuz i have a tanabe RM. but Alpine is Alpine )

so if any peeps out there that have these units in their rides, please tell me if u guys have good/bad experience w/ them.

If you get the JVC I will find you and smack you!!! A lot of people think that JVC is "BADASS" but in raelity is compared to a Jenson deck (which are POS) So I wouldn't think twice about the Alpine (They are probably the best headunits out there IMOP)

I agree with SuperSteve. Plus that auto cruise is not all cracked up as it seems. My friend just got a new Chev Truck that came with that. I HATE it. It is very annoying. Like we are not even going that fast and the thing gets louder (but it steps up. Like goes up one "notch"). But damn it, it is set to the volume that I want it at. If I want it louder then I'll make it louder. Then when we slow down it is not very smooth either. I make him turn it off.

There's no comparison there...definitely JVC!...haha!...J/K...definitely go for the Alpine. Alpine makes some of the best HU's out there. However, I wouldn't say THE best. Look into something from Nakamichi (basic looking and no fancy features, but awesome SQ!) or Eclipse (tons of features and also awesome SQ). Only after looking at Nak and Eclipse would I look elsewhere...but Alpine and Clarion are a fairly close second to those.
