Default Type R 6 1/2 Components

Hey guys,

I have a S2000 with 2 Type R 6 1/2 Components. I wired up the cross over, tweeter, mid in each door. I then ran a RCA and remote wire to the amp, followed by the left and right speakers.

All the wiring I assume is plugged in correctly (-,+). When I turn the deck on my speakers are low but clear, they have no bass.

My CD player is a Alpine CDA-9854L and I do not have a clue how to adjust the Hz, or what settings I should put them too. My amp is a 4 channel digital amp (second gen), I forgot the model. What settings should I set the Cd player, and amp to get the best result for these two components?

Thanks!

No adjustments on the HU are needed to get full-range output, [default settings will be full-range], what is the make and model of the amp?

Do a phasing check, using the HUs balance control, balance all the way to the left and/or right and back to center listening to the bass response of the speakers , if bass is better when only one side is playing then when both sides are playing the speakers are wired out of phase, recheck the speaker wiring at the amp, at the x-over inputs and at the x-over woofer outputs. 94

The amp is a MRV-F345. There is no bass only sound, I have to turn the Cd player to lvl23 to get moderately high sound. The sound is less then when I took out the old components that were plugged directly to the CD player

Ok so after calling Alpine what I have done is this.

Turn my amp filter to "Off"
Go into my eq settings and modify each of the 5 Bands

Band 1 - +5
Band 2 - +4
Band 3 - +4
Band 4 - +5
Band 5 - +6

Now my sound is 10x louder, the bass hits comfortably. Any other recommendations people have? Like I am confused about the width, what does this do? Are the band levels I set good?

The EQ settings are pretty high, what is the amp gain set at?

Amp manual... http://vault.alpine-usa.com/products...m_mrv-f345.pdf
HU manual... http://vault.alpine-usa.com/products...20OM%20ENG.PDF

Did you do a phasing check? 94

Filter should be on highpass, not off...you're not suppose to run speakers full range

put the highpass on, and set it to 70hz

There is no sub, the filter should be off, if you are going to use the x-over it should be set for under 65Hz, frequency response of the Type R's is 65Hz - 27kHz, hard enough to get bass as it is, setting a x-over point higher then speaker is capable of is counter productive. 94

it'll play 65hz but @ what db? the type r would stress itself playing 65hz at higher volumes

i'd say high pass should be on and the xover on the amp should be set to 70hz

not many mids can play down that low with authority..

That would have more to do with the install of the mid and the power going to it, I bet you a dollar I can get a 6.5" Type R mid to go down to 60Hz, with "authority".94

Throw 100-150 watts @ a type r @ 60 hz and it'll fail due to over excursion..

not many mids can really play that low @ higher volumes..you're also forgetting about roll off too

I am not even a big fan of the alpine speaker but in my brother Da they are doing that job fine with a pdx 100x4. No issues
