hey all, i'm currently building myself a Shift light(which is gonna cost about $15), and I'd like to know if someone here knows what's the frequency at the tachometer? what is the frequency at 6500 RPMs? I don't have access to an oscilloscope right now...

any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don't know what the freq is, but I would think that it is double the rpms at any point (2 sparks per rev) at the ignition trigger wire also connected to the tach input and 1 per rev at the tdc sensor. Dustin has a good schematic of a dual shift light, or you can go to national.com and look up LM2917 and the schematics will tell all (no real need to know the freq, just the voltage after the LM2917 conversion......

yeah, I asked Autometer customer service and they told me the frequencies:

1000 RPM - 33.33 Hz
2000 RPM - 66.67 Hz
3000 RPM - 100 Hz
4000 RPM - 133.33 Hz
5000 RPM - 166.67 Hz
6000 RPM - 200 Hz
7000 RPM - 233.33 Hz

Who is Dustin?? i'd like to have a copy of his schematic! I wanna do a dual shift light! I found the idea on National.com! I ordered a couple LM2917 yesterday! but the schematic there doesn't include all the values(resistors and capacitors) so that's why I wanted these frequencies to calculate what values I need!

If you could get me the e-mail adress of Dustin, it would be great!!!
