System question.
This is probably a dumb question, but:
I have a 94 civic and I'm wanting to put a system in it. I already have an Alipne 6 disc changer in it. I dont plan on anything too special, just new speakers all the way around, 400-600watt amp, and 2 10' woofers.
What I want to know is, can I run that type of system using the stock head unit, or a Honda headunit, or do I need some kind of aftermarket one?

you don't have to upgrade your head unit, but it is highly recomended. My 92 accord's HU only put out 20w x4. A new HU would improve volume and sound quality. Also, make sure you get one with subwoofer output (RCA cables) to run to your amp.
just think about it, if you're spending a lot of money for all the other components..shouldnt you spend a little bit on the central unit of your whole system. Head units can be similiar to computer's cpu or motherboard. An aftermarket head unit can give you a lot of adjustability and/or features that are nonexistent in all honda factory decks. a good quality deck can go for as little as 200 bucks..not a bad investment!
