subwoofer installtion help
hi, im planning on getting a dual 8 inch subwoofer w/ amp system. for a starter system. im planning on upgrading probably in the future.
http://www.amazon.com/Dual-SBP8A-Sin...0897218&sr=8-3
and i need a good amp kit. im not sure which amp kit i would need or which one is good. i checked the reviews off amazon and i have 3 results with good reviews.
im planning on upgrading in the future maybe to rockford fosgate 10 inch slims. but for sure no more then 300 rms for the subwoofers. can anyone give me some advice on which amp kit i should get or if u have any other amp kits in mind let me know. i also need to know what fuse to run

It really depends on what your going to do in the future. I would just start off with a 4ga kit and call it a day. This way you do not have to upgrade later. The last kit on your list is a joke don't waste your money on it.
Before you buy that sub. What kind of car are we talking about here?

Please don't buy any of that stuff.
It's crap.
You're better off saving a little now and piece something much better together.
A ssa dcon is only 115 bucks & power is cheap as hell nowadays..

im driving a del sol, i definetely dont want to run anything bigger then a 10 inch since this subwoofer is going to be behind the seats. sorry i forgot to mention
i know the sub is crap but the reason why im buying that sub is also because i never installed subwoofers b4 and im doing this also for a learn experience. once i install these subwoofers i will get a better idea on how to install them so i can start upgranding, like buying an amp for my speakers and getting new subwoofers. i orginnally wanted to get some jl's in a ported box and have best buy install it for me. but my funding went down and now i rather have something for the time being then nothing and also i can get the learning experience then take it to best buy.
thanks for the advice guys
i was thinking of getting the 4 gauge also just in case but i think a 8 gauge will do because im not going to run too much power behind the seats. how much power will an 8 gauge power? let me know in rms plz

This should help you out. Also, load carrying capacity is measured by amps not watts.
ok so i ended up getting 4 gauge amp kit (stinger is the brand) and i ended up buying a 10 inch diamond subwoofer with a kenwood kac 7203 amp.
i did all the wiring and install myself. but i getting trouble trying to get it to work. there are 2 main questions if any1 can help me answer.
so the blue that connets to the amp to the headunit. my question is, does the blue wire connect to the head unit and the hardness also? or just the head unit? cause originally the blue wire is hooked up to the harness to the head unit (before i got an amp) and now i dont know where the blue wire is suppose to connet to. does all 3 wires connect? or just 2 wires?
2nd question is the rca. i have 2 rca output and im not sure which one do i use? i have a pioneer 6300 deh ub head unit. does it matter? or is there a specific one im suppose to connect to?
please help me answer these questions asap as im trying to finish the installtion by tomorrow. i spent all day today and for some reason it wont work. i already tested teh subwoofer and it works. but im not sure if the amp works or if i just wired it wrong. i see power running thru the kenwood amp. theres only 2 lights on the kenwood amp. but only 1 lights on. so i dont know whats the case
this is the pic of the back of the pioneer

ok thanks, i just fixed those 2 wires. but i still have no sound comming out of the subwoofer. i think its my amp.
there are 2 lights a red triangle light and a rectangle blue light. when i power on my car both lights flash for a quick second then shuts off. i tried messing with the rca's and positive and negative wires and the blue wire, but nothing seems to be working. im not sure if the amp is even working. since no lights stay on, im assuming its not working properly. but everytime i power the car those 2 lights flash. i also noticed that blue light will come alive once in a while but very dimly following the beat of the song on some bass hits. im a try to take it to someone and see if i can get help but can someone help me out? im really trying to get this thing running without having to pay for a repair guy to check it out for me

Nvm I just fixed everything today. Turns out my ground wire was in a bad spot. I changed the location and now everything works. Thanks for your help Kevin. Everything is running smooth
It was my pleasure to help you out and i'm glad to hear everything is working now. Make sure you use direct and unpainted metal as a grounding point for the best results.
Kind of late now, but if all you want to run is 300W RMS then 8ga is more then enough.
I do not recommend any of the amp kits you listed because they come with RCAs, [longer then you need].
The Scosche one is OK, other then the RCAs but you could do better, it uses an ANL fuse with a simple stud type fuse holder and not the crappy AGU fuse with the cinch, [set screw] type fuse holder.
You would have been better off picking up some 6ga welding cable, an ANL fuse and stud type fuse holder, the proper size ring terminals, [brazed seam PICO] and put it together yourself.
Don't bother paying for "pimp my audio system" clear red amp power wire, [welding cable is cheaper and way better], gold ring terminals fuses and fuse holders, [not enough gold in all of it to short circuit the dynamo on a firefly's ***].
Get RCAs separately, and only just long enough, having to "wad up" 3-4 feet of RCA is not a good idea and a PITA. 94

If you want an 8, get a dd audio 508. $90. If your getting a dual its not gonna matter what amp kit you get, it wont make a difference in sound with dual.
