sub question
I have a legacy 1000w sub. Now my quesiton is, the sub has two sets of connectors for wires. When one is connected it acts as a speaker with no bass. This happens no matter what set of connectors is used. Should i run wires to both of them? Or would this somehow overload the sub?

okay first your speaker is a dvc, dual voice coil. They could be dual 2 ohm, 4 ohm, 6 ohm depending on which model you choose. Next far as you wiring them up depends on your amp. Can you post some info on your amp and the ohm on your speaker and we will be able to help you better. Now as far as you not getting bass when you hook it up depends on your crossover setting and your box. If you are trying to hear the bass with out the box you are not going to hear it. The speaker is going to go into a free air state. If you are trying to use a set up that does not need a box make sure you get a free air sub. And follow the inclose information on set up. Post more info on your set up please.
Sorry for such the long wait... my amp has these specs
760W peak power, bridged
380W RMS (continuous) x 1 @ 4 ohms, bridged, 10Hz - 50kHz, 0.008% THD
190W RMS (continuous) x 2 @ 2 ohms, 10Hz - 50kHz, 0.008% THD
125W RMS (continuous) x 2 @ 4 ohms, 10Hz - 50kHz, 0.008% THD
Load impedance is 4 ohms 2-8 allowance

Well your amp and sub combo does not go hand and hand. You really do need to buy anothor amp or get a a diffrent sub. Since you have a dual 4 ohm sub you can only wire it as a 8ohm sub or a 2 ohm sub. your amp is not stable at a 2 ohm bridge mono. If you wire it at 8 ohm you will barely get enough power to bump the sub hard. You could just use one voice coil to get a 4 ohm load, but that may void the warrenty on your sub or burn it out. I would wire it as a 8 ohm load and see how it sounds.
