Default Sub in a Hatch..

Sup guys,

How do you keep your subs stable in your EG hatches? I have a single 12" and sometimes it jumps on bumps and I want to brace it down. Just looking for some ideas how to keep it braced and what should I brace it to, etc.

Piano hinge along the front bottom, so you can flip it out of the way to get to the spare, or if you just need more room in the hatch. 94

well, the cover for the spare (which is what the sub is resting on) is very thin and when the sub jumps there's possibility of it breaking... i wanted to put a 1/2 or 3/4 mdf on there but my sub and amplifier are already crazy heavy so i'm looking into other resolutions first... need more ideas...thanks!

velcro will hold for bumps, but in the case
of an accident, you'll still have a 50lb projectile flying at your head...,89lkp/., \\

THe rear seat will hold it from flying but that doesn't matter... I want to brace it securely for bumps or accidents.

Come on, I know people have done this before.. share your experiences or ideas.

The piano hinge along the front bottom of box, with other part of hinge screw to a strip of MDF, [1"x2"x width of box] glued to floor pan, [sub floor adhesive] will keep front of box secure.

Depending on width of box, 1" blocks/feet can be installed on back bottom of box on each side, [if box is wider then spare tire well] if not a "strap" of wood long enough to span the well will have to be install on bottom of box.

If done properly none of the weight of the box will rest on the well cover at all, but on the floor pan of the car.

BTW, if you think the rear seat will stop that sub box from launching through the front windshield in an accident, think again, it will not only hardly slow down. it will take the top of the drivers and/or pass seat, and anybody's head with it as it passes by. 94
