Default Strange wiring

1998 Honda Civic EX. I purchased it 8 months ago. The previous owner (who I can' get in contact with) installed an Alpine ida x200 head unit. He wired in a switch near the cruise control and if it set on the up position the head unit will stay on when the car is off. In the down position the head unit will shut off normally when the car is turn off. In the down position 3 small LED lights will blink *car has fake security alarm* and in the up position they turn off.

When the switch is in the down position the FOB will not work correctly. Also, the drivers side window occasionally will not work until I manipulate the window switch on the driver's side door.

Any suggestions?

I forgot to mention that all worked well until 3 weeks ago. I haven't adjusted any wiring to this point. I unhooked the negative side of battery about 3 weeks ago when I replaced the dizz cap. I reset the ECU by following directions I found on a few sites. Coincidence? I don't know, I tried resetting the door lock/FOB using posted directions and that didn't fix it.

There are a couple wires cut and tape near the head unit, but I have not inspected closely near the switch at this point. I am trying to figure out what the previous owner was trying to achieve by installing the switch. My guess is that it was the only way to get the "security" LED's to engage while turning the radio off. I am going to try to reset the locks again while the switch is in the UP position. I haven't tried that yet, if it doesn't work then I'll look closer into the wiring.

Unless you're trying to keep his fake LED setup, remove all trace of it. Then check for a shorted wire somewhere.

It's looking more like the window switch contact is the issue
