Default stock deck mp3 hookup?

i just got a 96 hatch and the sucker only came with the stock am/fm , since buying the car im kinda low on funds so im looking for the cheapest way to hook my friggin 300$ mp3 player to the stock radio, i have both a tape adapter and red/white stereo wire connections, is there a way to hook stereo wires to the radio? i opened my dash (such a pain i thought civics just unscrewed by hand and were held in place by legos) and looked at the back and there was the black star shaped connection(for changer/slave deck?) and a kinda square phonejack looking one(keyless entry?) so 1st i wanna know if theres a way to hook to that, cause radioshack is cheap, but if not i want to know wheres a good place to find those slave tape decks that go behind the cupholder, one i test drove had that and it looked hot(well kinda), on ebay i only saw the slave cd players and people wanted like 100bucks for them WTF it a cd player with one slot and no buttons, anyway thanks for the help any other suggestions are more than welcome

[ handshake] that will plug into the "slave unit" port, and give you a set of RCA inputs to the oem HU but it will cost as much as a aftermarket HU that will play MP3s and give you better sound 94

they do have rca converters which basically send the signal from your mp3 to a given radio station. Sound quality is only acceptable for my standards

correct me if im wrong but if the deck is made by Alpine, you can get an AUX-IN adapter that will plug directly into the changer port on the back. The adapter is like $20 bucks. Im not sure if the 96+ are still made by alpine. I did it in my EG but thats pre-96. Hope this helps.

</TD></TR></TABLE> The "handshake" adpt. or you make one, the HU has to see a load, and as the HU supplies all the power and ground to th slave unit , try putting a 12v lightbulb on the acc. out and ground of the 8 pin plug. 94

PS yes I am sure

You will need a soldering gun, [fine tip] also you will need to know how to solder.

I can't send pix so you will have to look on the back of th HU at the 8pin plug, place the HU so that the the little "notch" on the outside edge of the plug is on the bottom, starting with the first pin on the left, [at 7 oclock ] going clockwise

1=batt 12v+ constant

2=open

3=sig. ground

4=sig. right

5=sig. left

6=open

7= switched 12v+ acc.

8= [pin in the middle]ground

Solder the RCA grounds,[the outside wire strands that are wraped around the RCA positives] to pin 3, the sig. right,[red] to pin 4, the sig. left white to pin 5, and the positive for the lightbulb to pin 7, and the ground for the bulb gos to pin 8, this should allow you to switch to "CD" and give you an AUX input. good luck 94
