Stereo wont work...Help please
My headunit is working and shows the music is on but there is no sound comming out of any of the speakers, i have a amp too running the speakers. Any clue as what I can check. I looked in the back of the headunit and it seems like the wires are all connected. any help thanks
check to makesure your amp is poweringup. check the connections going in the amp then if the the amp isnt powering up check the inline fuse under the hood to make sure it isnt blown.
ok its weird at times it works fine then it will shut off then turn back on and its been doin that for like a week now but now it wont come back on. ill check

Ok well I checked the ground and its looks to be ok but I dont think my amp is even on because the red light on it isnt on. So how do I go about turning it on and making it work??? Thanks I know I know nothing about stereos.
If youre amp isnt even turning on youre sure the little thing wire running to the back of the headunit is connected? The remote wire is what turns the amps on so if its not connected, well you amp isnt gonna turn on lol.
A shitty ground would also cause it, make sure theres no paint under the place where you grounded, only clean metal

If the amplifier light is not on, you can check 3 things.
1) Make sure you are getting a turn-on signal from the head unit. Get a test light (will cost you 3 bucks) and see if you are getting a signal when you turn the Alpine on.
2) Make sure you are getting a good ground. Attach the clip on the test light to the spot you have the ground wire attached to and touch the power wire and see if you get a light.
3) Check the power cable the same way. If you are getting a 12v signal from the turn on lead, than you have a ground problem or a power problem, or your amp is toast.
If all falls, pull the amp out and try hooking it up close to the battery with spare wires and see if the light comes on.

Ok thanks..So then what color is the remote wire going to the headunit? And yea the head unit is on and works fine. The sound has been going off and on now for about a week. Ill have to check for the ground where does the wire usally get grounded to? Thanks
Oh, did you do this install? Find out what the wire looks like that is going to the spot in the amps inputs that says "12 V" or "turn on". Find that wire in the dash and see if it is connected.
First off, is the amp turning on at all? If not then you have one of a few problems,
1. The amp isn't recieving the remote turn on (wire coming out of the radio should be blue with a white stripe, solid blue is the power antenna wire, look for the white stripe.
2. The amp isn't seeing ground, check the ground and make sure it is to bare metal. The Ground should be the same size wire as your power wire so if you're running 4 awg power wire, you should have 4 awg ground wire.
3. The amp isn't seeing power, check the fuse under the hood, and use a tester, a multimeter works best but a test light will work. The fuse might look good, but it can still be bad, check for power before and after the fuse holder and make sure the voltage is the same on both sides.

Thanks. Yea the amp is off. I checked the remote wire and there still stuck together. I checked the ground and it is good all its touching bare metal no paint. and last I checked the fuse under the hood and its good also. If I use a multimeter what should it say so I know if the fuse is good or bad?
It should read atleast 12 volts with the car off, It should read 12volts on both sides of the fuse. If you get 12 on both sides then check at the amp, make sure the meter is seeing 12 volts from the power wire, then make sure it can get ground from the ground wire at the amp, and also check to see if the remote wire reads 12 volts when the radio is turned on.
Well I went out and got a new amp and its still not getting any power to it so the amp is not fried at least. Ive check the power and ground and remote and they all seem to be fine???? I dont know what to do.
Did you use the remote wire from the headunit to the amp? Is the amp turning on when the headunit on? If both amps are not turning on then the remote wire from your headunit is fried.
You can tap into the ignition wire and use that as your remote wire to your amps.
