That is the only way to get a JL to work.

Sit it flat with the sub facing up. its much more prone to tip when its sitting like how you have it, i know from experience, and from having to put a dust cone back on my w3. if its mounted, then your all good.

When you face it up, you create a standing wave. Facing backwards is the way it will sound the best.

i am looking at it as more of an issue if the beast tips over. It you face it down hitting against the carpet, you won't get much of anything, besides a blown sub.

If it tips while its playing, the cone is screwed. What he needs to do is set the box where he likes it the best (in the center pushed against the seats, or to the left or right side pushed against the seats) remove the woofer from the box, screw the box down inside the box to the factory masonite, then replace the woofer. That will take care of it tipping over...

Nice deal on the system. I like the deck.

It will still sound good facing up since it is in a hatch. The waves reflect well off the glass. No matter which way you put it it should be mounted, so that it doesnt tip, and so that nobody can steal it.

Does anyone else think that box looks a little too small for a W6?

Yes, looks like 1-1.5cu ft. That's what I use for my 10" W3, so I think it's a little small for a W6, but I'm sure it's plenty loud
