you can put tape over the light. Really I don't think there's much you can do other than trick the SRS unit into thinking the airbag is still there. I'm sure a resistor of the correct resistance would accomplish this, but I'm not sure of what value or if infact it would work.

Oh, and don't try to ohm out your old airbag to find what value the resistance is, you could accidentally blow the bag.

yeah what he said, u can try and take a meter to the bag and see what res it is and then use the correct resistor to make the light go out, i in the past done one before where i used a variable resistor and the light went out , but on my car i just took the bulb out

in CT, do they do a diagnostic check (with a scan-tool) for inspections? otherwise, they won't even know.

The airbag won't mess with emmisions of course, but I don't know what your state regulations are with the missing airbag. They may say since the car came with one it must have one to be street legal and pass inspection. Otherwise, if they dont' require it, make sure you call your insurance company and tell them the airbag is removed. You'll loose your airbag discount, but they won't be able to slap you with insurance fraud if you get into an accident and they find out the airbag was removed.
