Default Is speaker quality based on quality of head unit?

Right now I'm using oem cd player with alpines and it sounds like crap. If I changed the oem head unit out for a aftermarket would it make a noticeable difference in sound quality?

Your system is only as good as its weakest link.

The headunit processor EVERYTHING from whatevery source you are using.

Since you are using aftermatket speakers, I am betting that the little internal amp in the HU is the problem. Upgrade the HU and you get a bigger and better amp and a better processing unit.

I had the same problem when I changed out my OEM speakers. The stock HU doesn't have enough power to drive your Alpine speakers.
