I've installed a few sony's, of course all the wiring is the same, it just comes down to looks, and they look like trash. The top of the line sony's are all right because they have nice "large" screens, relatively speaking, and come with two pre-outs in the unit, which is great when hooking up two amps, that way you dont have to run pass throughs, etc.. Why spend a lot of money on a trashy looking headunit, you will just regret it.
If it comes down to money, dont buy a cheap *** sony head unit, save up 30 dollars extra and buy a low end Alpine, which is 10x better and looks clean no matter what car it is in.

I have a sony xploid (cdx-ca810x) and I think it is crap. The signal sent from the unit to the amp is off, so I get this annoying loud thump from my sub when I switch sources (FM/AM to CD) or tracks. I just switch the audio cable to rear output, but I lost subwoofer control just to lose the thump.
The deck is about 1.5 year old and occassionally skips for no reason. CD is scratched and the road is smooth.
