Default Silly question about antenna connection

The antenna connector for the head unit on my wagon is wompted. It won't stay in place - pulls out very easily.

Can I cut the connector off my parts car and splice it in, or is there something special about the wire?

Im assuming you installed an aftermarket head unit...Yes you can cut off the end and replace it with the one of the same kind, (or differnt if you so choose) but most likely all you need to do is take a small flat head screw driver and "pry" up the little metal tabs that forcefully hold the plug in place.

Atleast this worked for me, on my pioneer AVIC-D1 navi unit..

You could also be missing an adaptor maybe?

Nah, nothing's missing. There are four "blades" behind the pin itself, but two of them are caught under the ferrule at the end of the cable. The plug fits, but the two blades don't have enough pressure to hold the plug in securely.

I got the other deck (replacing one aftermarket with another) in there, and it looks like the bulk of wiring behind the deck is going to keep it in place.

I need to check the wiring on two of the speakers anyway, so I might pull it back out and either pry up the blades or cut it off and splice another one in.

Just wanted to be sure cutting it would be ok.
