Default Security System Install

If there's already a thread going on this, just give me the link, I did a search but came out empty.

How easy/hard is it to install one of the many ebay alarm systems? They come with the main unit wiring diagram in the manual, but how intense is this wiring?

All alarm wiring is about the same, same number of connections for basic alarm operation, options, like door locks, will depend on the alarm you get, [with or without relays on-board] and the car it is being installed into.

How "intense" the wiring will be will depend on the car the alarm is being installed into, what wiring, [features] over and above the basic install you want, and of coarse, how comfortable you are with your cars 12V system, your skill level and the tools you have. 94

Well, there's the site in my sig. There's also a writeup in the FAQ in this forum and several of the other forums.

I wouldn't recommend a generic alarm though, especially for a first timer. DEI alarms are good bulletproof alarms. You hook up the parking brake or door trigger wrong, you don't ruin the alarm like you do with a Compustar or just about any other brand. Hook it up right, slap your forehead, and it works!
