Live video your going to need a Q-see type device and with that I would worry about battery drain if you intend to leave it running with the car off.

Sorry for the late reply. All of the systems that I use are ran to and powered off of a hard drive, usually 80 or 120GB. We do this so that if there is an event that takes place we can go back to watch it with the exact time and date. The idea that you have putting cameras everywhere is nice but not very practical. Alot of the camera even the smaller ones are set up to have a wide viewing angle so one in the front of your vehicle and one in the rear should do just fine. You can mount the hard drive in your vehicle and plug the cameras right in. With some hard drives you are able to set it to record only certain time of the day or night but with the vehicle being off that will put a draw on your battery. My suggestion would be to get some small camera with wireless that will allow you to put the cameras in your car and park it say.. down the street while sending you a live feed inside your house where the hard drive or dvr is. You would be able to view the live feed on you tv or computer through the video out of your dvr or whatever recorder you may have. The only downside to that is that when you more you vehicle out of range the cameras wont pick up.. like say in town. You also may want to look into a gps system, not like a garmin but more like a "low-jack". That will allow you to see when your vehicle is started and also has output for things like a camera, but you can also use it as a silent alarm. Wired to the door pins or hood pins or just about anyhing else, the gps will notify your computer when the doors are being opened or car started in real time which also has a mapping feature to show where you have been. Check out Synovia, they handle all the real time gps systems. Hope this helps.
