s2k push start
Hey guys, since this is the more electronically inclined section I'll ask my question here. I've searched this, and haven't found anything, not even on google. I want to install a genuine Honda S2000 push start button on my 2000 Prelude, it's a 5th gen. There are some write ups I found on google but they are for different cars, not even Hondas. Since this involves cutting wires I don't exactly want to jump into it and start messing with my ignition. I've already called Honda and asked if they would do it, they said no. Then I spoke to a mechanic and asked him if he would do it if I paid him cash he declined also. I would be glad to do it myself, I just need someone that owns or have owned a 5th gen prelude and knows about the whole wiring thig. When it comes to wires and electricity I'm lost, I had trouble wiring my fog lights.
Please any input, or pictures if you have them. Or redirect me to a correct section.

my anwser to you would be 1.electrical manual of your car 2. the basic wire is big yellow to ignition key and small wire on starter...that is the basic to all cars.
Now some car wires are easy.. 4 wires on starter key 1blk 2red 3yellow 4blue or green.maybe blue/white line...with a ground tester check the wires with key turning in to every step to start...now with finding the wires remote to starter..
place direct power to button in from yellow wire disconnect the remote wire place to button out with key turn on...i will say that i am only guessing this would be right trick to try...

Okay. I was thinking more of the instructions that came with the switch. But I didn't realize it was an OEM switch and not an aftermarket kit.
I'm at work right now, so I'm a little bit limited in my ability to help. Depending on your ability, this may be all you need to know.
White is your car's constant 12v at the ignition harness. Some Honda's have 12v outputs at the fusebox, but I would need to see the Helms for your car to be able to tell you (or I could take a good guess if I had a pic of your under dash fuse box).
Black/Yellow is your car's ignition 12v at the ignition harness.
Black/White is your car's starter wire.
You will need the relay. I hope also that you have the plug connector with pinned wires for that circuit board. If you don't have that module, then tell me whether the push button has two big pins on the back of it. You could just use it as any normally open, high current push button switch, but you're going to need switches to turn on your accessories and ignition.
