Default Resistor Direction??

When placing a resistor inline, does it make any difference which way the resistor is placed??

Ive got a 560 ohm resisitor i need to place in a power wire but I dont know if it makes a difference which end goes first.

also, this is for a 12 volt car system, going to a 1.7 volt, 20 Amp LED...should I get a 1/4, 1/2 or 1 watt resistor??

Thanks

thanks

No, it doesn't matter. Resistors have no polarity.

20 Amp you mean 20 Milliamp maybe?

490 ohm resistor is a common value and a 1/4 watt is plenty

yeah, 20mA, and I got 560 ohm resistor, 1/2 watt...both are a bit high but I guess ill see how they work.

Thanks for all the help!!
