remote start on cars with computerized keys..
Has anyone installed a remote start system on a car with a computerized key. SUch as my 2000 integra which needs the key to start???
you have to imbed the key in the engine so that it reconigzes the signature and starts the car when you press the button you will need a parking key or spare key to do this.let me know if you need more help
check into dei's website.. i have done it several times at work and for your car you will need dei 555u which is a box w/ the key inside that signals the ecu immobilizer that the key is present during remote start.. any circuit city or best buy can tell you what you need in order for it to work correctly..
you need to get your valet key and get the chip part cut out
and put near the ignition
i've got it done to my car
works fine i guess
remote start is not good for the starter i believe
feels like mines wearing

actually, if you have a good alarm and a good installer then the remote start is not as hard on the starter as the key start. If done correctly the alarm will monitor the starting procedure. Have a pro do the install. Then you get a warranty and someone to bitch at when it acts up!

everyone is exactly right. i work at circuit city as an installer and its alot better to have a remote starter due to the simple fact that you hook it up to test the tach wire. so that it stops cranking as soon as the cars starts up. its alot smoother.
and also get a pro to do your install because many companies only give warranties on their products ONLY if a CERTIFIED DEALER installs it. so if you install it yourself. you are screwed.

theres a bypass module/control box... that will allow your computer chipped/immobilized car to be remote started... also most decent remote starts are connected to the tach wire and such so that it knows when the car is started and stops cranking it.. and most have anti-grind technology.. where if you get into the car.. forget that its remote started already.. and turn the key to "start" (past on).. it won't crank/grind the starter w/ the vehicle already started...
