all remote start systems sold in the US are not made for manual transmissions. Look this up my friend. Although i had remote start on my last manual car... all you need to do is install it yourself and NEVER leave your car in gear. Then your straight. Other then that, no one will install because of legal issues.

Jeremy</TD></TR></TABLE> Compustar... http://www.compustar.com/ make some very good alarm/remote start combo units that will work on standard transmission cars and give you the fail safe you need to keep from ever starting your car in gear, [ready mode] also have 2way paging units with range from hell.

WRONG! Compustar and Clifford both make alarms with remote start for manual transmissions, and guess what..both sold in the US.

CC still doesn't carry any remote start alarm or do any remote start installs for manual trans.

depends on the CC, the ones around me will install Compustar. if you want a remote starter for a manual, that's the one to get. the higher end 2-way pager has disgusting range. your RSX will need a chip key bypass too

Clifford AvantGuard 4 and 5.
The AG4 has been replaced with the AG5. If I remember correctly, the AG5 came out a little over 2 years ago. So remote start for manual transmissions has been out for a number of years now.

" The Clifford G5 Avantgaurd 5 security / remote start hybrid system leads the industry in range, features, functionality and reliability. Clifford G5 systems have the ability to safely add remote start functionality to automatic transmission vehicles and on top of all that, I phoned our DEI rep and asked him if DEI had a remote start or alarm/remote start for standard transmission cars yet, He said no, and because of potential litigation DEI had no plans for one in the near future, so am I missing something here?

As a DEI and Compustar dealer I would like to have a DEI product, [Clifford/Viper/Avital/Python or any one of the others] that is standard transmission capable, and although any remote start can be installed on a standard transmission car, if it does not have a "ready mode", [fail-safe] feature I am not allowed to, [or would I want to] hook it up to a standard transmission car. 94

I know for a fact that the AG5 alarm by Clifford has 'safe start mode' for manual transmissions. I phoned my friend earlier cause he has the alarm. He said in order for remote start to work, you have to program it before turning the vehicle off. So this means you know you will wan to remote start it before leaving your car. He said to program it, you have to have the parking brake up, then enter a set of commands on the remote. After this the car will remain running and you can then turn off the car and take the key out of the ignition. The car will still be running, so you won't be able to leave the car in gear. The car will turn off when you arm the alarm. hth

That's exactly how the Compustar works.

All the info on DEIs site for the AvantGuard 5 is as I have stated. 94
