Default Rear Speaker Help!!

I just got my hands on some 6x9 5-way 600 watt Pioneer speakers for my '94 civic hatchback. Because my hatchback is a CX, my lacks all the upgrades that an EX or Si has. So adding rear 6x9 speakers is harder than it should be because the car isn’t wired for 6x9 speakers. The car is only wired for the 2 doors (6 ½ speakers) and the rear seat arm rest area (5 ¼ speakers). I cut out holes on the cargo cover so the 6x9's have a place to sit. What I need help with is wiring the speakers. Where do I start to wire the speakers? I have never encountered this before so I'm lost. Please help!!

First off, technically you do not need rear speakers and you definatly do not want any speaker that produces highs, at the most you want mid-range/mid-bass.

Second, mounting the speakers to the security cover is not effective, a set of 5-1/4" in the stock locations will outperform the 6x9s mounted to the cover.

Third, all Honda/Acura are wired for front and rear speakers, even if rear speakers are not an option, your rear speaker leads are at the bottom of the rear quarters, directly below stock rear speaker locations.

Last but not least, there is enough room in the stock locations to mount 6x9s, a custom MDF mounting plate must be made to mount the speakers, but if done properly a set of 6x9s can be used as mid-bass drives, [tweeters disconnected] and sound great. 94

Wiring depends on what you want to do. Are you trying to add another two speakers, or bypass the old rears?

If you are adding two more you will need an amp with the proper # of channels. 6 in your case.

If you are bypassing, IMO the best way is to be the harnesses for the rear speakers, then attach extension wires up to the new location of the rear speakers.

Bypassing is clearly the cheaper option, but do NOT try to wire your 6x9's in parallel to your 5 1/4's. Its one or the other in this case.
