Default Really odd predicament

One of my friends buddies has a JL W7 with a rockford fosgate amp and a pioneer headunit. His sub doesn't like to work with his amp for some reason. When I hook it up sometimes it will spark pop once and then nothing, other times it will give an annoying buzz sound and thats it. Everything is wired right b/c when I hook up my infinity subs too it then work just fine. Could it be that his crappy wiring job in his HU sent some shock or s/t to his amp causing the amp not to want to work with his sub? He said everything worked fine until he hit a bump and then the sub and the amp stopped working together. Any body have any ideas as to why this would happen?

Probably loose wiring that is disconnecting or shorting out during movement.

That's kind of weird, the JL will not work with his R/F amp, but your Infinity sub(s) do and his JL sub works in your car off your amp.

When you are connecting your sub(s) to his R/F amp, [and it works] are you using the same speaker wire to the amp, is there anything at all diff., [other then you have 2 subs and he has one sub] about how you wire your sub(s) to his R/F amp from the way the JL is wired to his R/F amp? 94

When I switched over subs to try mine on his, I used his wire and then i switched it out and used my wire everything was wired up exactly how it was originally nothing was changed. I can't exactly wire both my subs to his amp b/c he bridged his amp so he could run the one JL sub off it, but when I did hook up mine infinity nothing was changed. I'm so confused on this one lol

You never said what model w7 that you have. The w713 is a dual vc. And if wired wrong will provide a ohm lower them what the rockford can handel. And the amp will be unstable.

pull the sub out the enclosure and make sure there is no loose connection. Make sure the speaker wire is not piniched.

I thought it was a problem with the speaker lead comming from the R/F amp, assuming they were using a diff. speaker lead for the Infinity sub, [wiring directly to the R/F amp] but using an existing speaker lead for the JL sub.
But by the sounds of it, that is not the case, and the JL sub does work with two other amps.

It's got me stumped. 94

Haha I'm with you on that one, well the guy is just going to pick up a new amp (he's a football player on campus, so he can do that haha)

Another predicament for you guys now lol. His buddy has a random "Magnum" set-up, two magnum subs w/ a magnum amp, anyway he wanted the amp switched with a sony explode amp so I switched them out and put the sony in for him, well after the switch the subs with continually pound THUMP, THUMP, THUMP, THUMP almost as though the subs are connected directly to the battery. I tried switching the amps back and same thing, he said his aunt bought it as a package deal so like the amp wiring to the box shouldn't be bad, and the wiring from the HU and the battery should be fine (I didn't have a lot of time to look at it last night, it was FREAKING cold and late). What would make subs do that? Like they still hit with his music but if you cut the HU off they just thump. These two got me stumped.
