Anyone have any experience with the Bel Vector LR Remote?? It's the model 975R, which is a concealed unit that has sensors installed inside the grill and on the back window..

I know everyone, on just about EVERY message board will swear by the Valentine 1, but come on, dude.. that thing is just u g l y! I know you can hardwire the V1 and all, but it's still not a true concealed unit like the Bel Vector..

Anyone have any experience?? Thanx in advance!!

 

as long as it picks up Ka band, and possibly laser. (Don't know if you can save yourself in time for a laser though).

Just dont let it give you a false sense of security..some cops pace.

It may be a little bulky, but you dont buy a radar detector for looks... go with what works.

 

Don't rely on the damn radar sensors. Only works when they shootin a beam at ya. If they're just patrolling and you're doing 100mph past em. Well ya know. Stick to being smart! Drive safe

 

Well yeah, I do agree with you on that note, Monster. The best way to avoid the 5-0 is to keep under their radar, perse.. Keep with the flow and you'll be straight.

But you know how you get that itch for a road trip every now and then..and that's when it comes in quite handy indeedie!

 

The problem with the V-1 is that it actually doesn't work in some places. It's not a true remote-mounted detector, and will be quite obvious to cops looking for it, even if the display isn't turned on. If radar detectors happen to be illegal where you live, this will be a problem. With a true remote-mounted system, you won't have this problem.

Plus, the idea of having boxes suction-cupped to the windshield just isn't very attractive from an aesthetics pov.

 

Exactly.. that's actually what I was trying to mention as well, the asthetics of the V1..

Another thing that annoys me is the dangling wires.. and for that reason, I had the Escort Solo but the problema with that was the battery life.

Radar detectors are only illigal in I think 2 states and DC. That being said I want to reiterate a previous post that warned about a false sense of security... radar detectors do not make you invincible. I've been pulled over 3 times since I've had mine.

 

Yeh i havent heard anything about the bell detectors but i do own a v1 and that has saved my butt a few times. It is worth the price, or at least thats my oppinion. But you should check out the escort site cuz they have some hardwired systems..i dont kno how good they are but u can look into it.. good luck

I just purchased a Cobra radar detector. I know it's not as good as the V1 or anything, it was only $100 but I know that you're never completely safe from cops and I wasn't looking for a reason to speed but rather a slight advantage in slowing down before I can get clocked. Anyway, my question is a little bit off topic, but... my 12V outlet in my car doesn't work. So, this radar detector I just bought is now inoperable until I can figure this out. Anyone have any ideas? I checked the fuse and it's a-ok. Is a 12V outlet even useful, or do I need a cigarette lighter instead?

A 12v outlet has the same power as a cigarette lighter outlet. If your outlet does not work, and youve already checked the fuse.. you may want to hard wire it.

 

mine is a BEL..works great...and has great range.

 

I just ordered my free Bel 940 from Crutchfields.

I hear its a decent detector.
