Default Quick Question

I just bought a system from a local car audio store. They set me up with two JL 10" w1, a 500 watt RMS amp (made by Total Power), a slot box that was custom ordered from JL, and Eclipse speakers all the way around. In addition, I'm driving a '91 Accord.

Now. When I change tracks, shut my system off, and sometimes when my CD is scanning I get feedback from my subs. Somebody told me I don't have a quite fuse in my amp, so thats why I get the feedback. Is there any solution to this problem, other than buying a new amp?

Does the car have to be running for there to be noise? what kind of sound is it? Is it the same sound all the time, or is it diff. depending on if your turning the HU off/on, changing tracks or the CD is scanning, also you say "sometimes when the CD is scanning" does that mean that there is no noise when the CD is scanning sometimes? and do you know how the wiring was run in the car, and how the amp is grounded [RCAs, amp tigger and power wire] and what kind of wireing. [gage of power wire, what kind of fuse was used at the batt. and are all the connections soldered?] last Q What kind of install warranty did the shop give you. It may be a "Quick Question" but tha answer/s may not be 94

HU: Pioneer DEH-3600

The car does not have to be running for the feedback to happen. It seems to get better when the car is running, except when you shut the system off. When the car is off, you get a lot more feedback with the disk as it scans or forwards to the next track. This noise only happens some of the time. I've even had it pick up another noises from my car that have nothing to do with my system. I think it was if I tapped my dash, my subs would hit.

They installed 8 gauge oxygen free ground wire. My wire connecting the battery, labeled as 12+ on my amp, is also 8 gauge. Both ground and power wire are raptor. When I was just looking at my car, I noticed that they connected the ground wire directly to the metal of my car right where the seat folds down. The carpet is removable in the trunk, so they pulled it back a little bit on the corner, ran a bolt down, and put the washer end of the ground wire on.

My warranty is 90 days with the place where I had installation. I've gone back already, and they told me they couldn't do anything about it. They said it does this in every car they install this amp in. But, I heard the system of one of the guys who works at this place, and it didn't do it. Something seems fishy here....

If you have any more questions, I'll be happy to answer.

If you have any more questions, I'll be happy to answer.</TD></TR></TABLE> I think the problem my be in the HU itself, a bad ground, [cold solder joint] inside the unit, easy way to check is to temp. plug in another HU, the other thing I would check is the RCAs, again, the easy check is just try another set, [just run it over the seats and carpets] and last I would check the amp mounting, [is it isolated from the body of the car,(mounted to wood) or is it mounted to the chassis, ( floor or back of seat)] if to the chassis, just remove the screws, and isolate the amp from the cars chassis, if isolated, [mounted to wood] run a ground wire from the chassis of the amp, [not the amp ground] to the chassis of the car. More then likely the problem is in the HU, [as all the noises are coming from it] the amp is just amplifing the sig. it is getting from the HU through the RCAs.

As for the place where you got the install done, 90 day install warranty and if they knew that they always have a noise problem when they install that amp why did they not warn you 94
