Default Question on subs for my car

first off i have a '94 Prelude VTEC, and my brother has 2 12" JL w3's, with a 1000 watt amp, i'm gonna put it in my car, but do i need a new head unit/adapter, i have a 6 disc changer that i moved behind my passenger seat, so i can fit them back there, but since i have a 6 disc do i stll need those? i dont know much about car audio, thanks in advance, btw, i've search all over for this but i think it is kind of particular to my specific model. has anybody done this/tried this?

Do you have a stock head unit?

if you want to keep your stock deck, you will most likely need to get a "line out converter" which basically turns your speaker outputs into RCAs, for the best sound. Unless your amp has speaker wire Inputs, you will need one. about 30 bucks. If you want a new aftermarket deck make sure you get one with rca outputs,so your amp will work. but you will lose your 6 changer. although I think an alpine deck will still plug into your 6 disc with an adapter
