Default Question about dynamat installation

Hey,

I just bought a bulk pack of dynamat to put in my 06 Civic to quiet down the noise/rattles in the rear deck and trunk. I was wondering if I really need a "roller" or any other special tools to install this stuff or can I just peel and press it down with my hands.

Thanks

You don't 'need' a roller, but it makes it tons easier...

yeah it really does.. cut my installation time in half literally, the edges of the roller are very useful in corners of the car. saves you from cuts sometimes too.

Use the handle of a paint brush for the corners if you don't have a roller. They are a waste of money

also trying using a blow dryer to heat up the sticky glue. it helps make it stick alot easier and makes it alot harder to fall off if the glue is old....

Clean the area first, with rubbing alcohol or something similar. The more mat is actually sticking, the more it's doing it's job.
If you're doing a large area, a roller will spare fatigue on your hands tremendously.

Thank you for actually spelling Dynamat correctly. You even did it twice. You are in the top 5th percentile of intelligence here on h-t.

A lot of people use an O in the middle.

moreso than the roller... "roll" it on, start at one edge and slowly press it from one side to the other.

dont really need a blow dryer with the new dynamat.. and i just used the back end of a a screwdriver to hit those corners.. worked out real good.. be careful using the hands.. that dynamat cuts like crazy.. stings much worse than your regular paper cuts.. haha
