pulled my alarm today
I bought a civic off a kid here about one year ago. He had a "PROFESSIONAL" install the alarm- i WAS told he is a guy off this site. The kid paid about 1000$ to have this "trick" alarm installed. Hidden behind the dash. The doors only work with use of remote, battery backup inside, siren behind dash too.
Well, it crapped out on me two days ago, could not get the remote to communicate with the alarm. Car battery was in good condition and not dead. So I had to break into my own car in my own driveway.... awesome alarm is screeching, neighbors watching, as I get under the hood and pull the battery cable, alarm goes silent...
Hmmm, I thought this was a battery backup alarm... weird.
So I dig into this mess of an install, some f-n jackass did.
Not a single positive connection in the whole wiring process, 100% electrical tape, not one solder, not one butt connecter, not even a house wire nut. Nothing but electrical tape.
WHO EVER DID THIS IS A MORON AND SHOULD BE SHOT FOR LYING TO PEOPLE AND CHARGING THEM MONEY, SAYING HE IS A PROFESSIONAL- HE IS IN THE L.A. CA AREA.
Not one single butt connecter in the whole alarm install, speaker wire used in places of 4 feet with 2 feet being speaker, 2 feet being random wire. joined only by electrical tape, then taped to the door lock actuator.
I pulled out a huge mess of junk, and will be replacing it with a newer better setup. I may even document how an alarm should be installed. With just a tiny bit for forethought, and a shred of ingenuity it can be done, correctly, professionally and most importantly SAFELY.
Rant over-

I still couldn't figure out how did you triggered your car's alarm on , but why didn't you check it out when you have paid extra money for this "masterpiece" alarm installed ?
BTW, I hope the alarm didn't blown your eardrum .lol

Agreed. That's why I don't ever buy a car that is already modified, especially if it came with a "professionally" installed alarm system. $1000 labor charge for a half-*** install....yeah right. The p/o told you a bucket of lies.
thats a good theory, but he had receipts for it, and it wasn't 1000$ for just labor, he brought the guy up from so-cal and bought the alarm.
Damn...for $1000, I would take up on that install as well. Only difference is my installs don't look like a bird's nest when it's finished.
I'm about to install an alarm on my coupe but it wont look like a wiring nightmare when I'm finished. Looking forward to that writeup. Never installed an alarm myself but have done plenty of stereo subs and amp installs.

Wow if you didn't mention how the PO had receipts, I would've guessed he made up lies just to get a better selling price. I'm getting a new alarm installed professionally this weekend from Custom Car Alarms located in SF, CA and/or Pleasant Hill, CA. As far as I know, my PO claims to have had an alarm system but supposedly lost the remotes haha... all I see is messy wiring.
the kid i bought it from has a huge stack of receipts for EVERYTHING on the car, from plugs, wires, 02 sensors, to brake pads, upgraded brake parts, momo wheel, nrg hub, installation, rims, tires, coil overs, it is an endless pile of receipts. Sop when he produced that one, along with his for the rest of the car, i figured i could trust he really paid for it all and was very **** about his car.
