Default Problems after alarm install...

alright so i had an alarm "professionally" installed on my last car. took the alarm off myself to sell the car. bought new car. installed alarm myself on new car. two problems...

1. there's a second or two of a delay in my turn signals. why are they so slow to come on after i signal?

2. the remote's range isn't very far at all. compared to the same alarm/remote on my last car. i have to be within a couple feet of the car for it to chirp. could this be because the antenna wire isn't seperated from the rest?? is there a certain position an alarm's brain should be positioned??

also, does anybody know which wire to tap into for the door switch on a 1990 Civic DX hatchback? i tapped into the GREEN/RED wire near the underdash fusebox. but it dosen't set the alarm off after a door is opened.

BTW...it's a Rattler model 250 alarm.

Default Re: Problems after alarm install... (two.oh)

once agin to bail someone out of a jam...........

1) It could be that switch is going bad, flasher is going out or you went to the switch for parking lights and screwed something up ( it happens)
On that year honda there is a male connector for the park light circut in the fuse panel...I suggest you make your connection there.

2) Uhh Yeah...its an antenna...what you want to do is have it up as high in the dash as possible...you can even lengthen it with 16ga black wire..also check that batteries.

3) Green/red is Low in the drivers kick...not every simialr wire combo does the same thing.....pull up your door sill...the wire you seek runs along the door jam to the switch in the door...you should be able to find it..extend wires if needed.

Let this be a valuble and much headed warning to all who want to install alarms and dont do it on a regular and daily basis:

Just because something looks like something....doesnt mean it is what you are looking for...You must ALWAYS test ALL wiring circuits before, during and after......it saves you the headaches later.
